Building for myself (Timeless Update)

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
TL; DR I will use FileMaker to create a project for myself, with a tagging system, floating windows, scripts, and keyboard shortcuts to make the project simpler to use.

A working prototype of time logging (Timeless Update)

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
One thing I love about FileMaker is being able to quickly create a working prototype. Without getting bogged down with systems and dependencies, I can really fly in FileMaker. Today I did just that.

Thinking about data (Timeless Update)

I have been thinking about how to organize my data since there are multiple ways to design a schema, even for the small amount of data I have.

An Introduction to Timeless

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
Premise: A simple time tracker for solo entrepreneurs. Track the duration of time you spend on an activity, not the start and end time. Overview I’ve been tracking my time like this for years. While I don’t run my business on an hourly basis, I do get some value from knowing how long I spend…

This was a short test recording I made with Adobe Podcast (beta as of Sep 2023).

    Recording:

    Unedited transcript:

Joseph: This is just a test of the new Adobe Podcast app. It’s in beta and I’ve been on the waiting list for a couple of months and I got the email this weekend. So I’m talking into my MacBook with no microphone or anything, just using the the built in MacBook Pro microphone. And I’m sitting on my couch not terribly close to it and talking pretty quietly at my normal tone and not necessarily holding still or trying to be quiet. So. Yeah. That’s where it put this thing through its paces and see what it can do with mouth sounds and background sound or whatever. But yeah, I’m just going to talk for about, I don’t know, five more seconds and then I’ll stop and see what it sounds

    Notes

    • Editing is a bit limited
    • Exports are large and would need to be mixed down
    • Chrome only
    • Beta for now, pricing unknown

    Pancakes and Space.

Pancakes = the 2D (normal) UI/UX work I do all day

Space = the 3D/VR work I tinker with

Apple Vision Pro = Pancakes IN Space
