Updating my website

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
Sometime last year allowed myself to get away from working on this site. I was never “complete” to begin with, but it got to the point where the content on this site was no longer relevant to the work I do. Today I decided to spend some time trying to clean things up. I started…

FileMaker data to text file using Base64

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
At the August meeting of COFMUG (Central Ohio FileMaker User Group) we took a look at the Base64 functions in FileMaker 14. We were all familiar with the functions, but I had recently stumbled on the idea of using them to create simple text-based files. Get the file: The demo file contains a simple contact…

Simple Toggle Buttons in FileMaker 14

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
Recently I had a need for a simple toggle button. In the past I would have used object visibility (FMP13) or conditional formatting (FMP12 and earlier) to show or hide two or more buttons based on a variable or field. This time I took a minute to consider how I could use the new features…

This was a short test recording I made with Adobe Podcast (beta as of Sep 2023).

    Recording:

    Unedited transcript:

Joseph: This is just a test of the new Adobe Podcast app. It’s in beta and I’ve been on the waiting list for a couple of months and I got the email this weekend. So I’m talking into my MacBook with no microphone or anything, just using the the built in MacBook Pro microphone. And I’m sitting on my couch not terribly close to it and talking pretty quietly at my normal tone and not necessarily holding still or trying to be quiet. So. Yeah. That’s where it put this thing through its paces and see what it can do with mouth sounds and background sound or whatever. But yeah, I’m just going to talk for about, I don’t know, five more seconds and then I’ll stop and see what it sounds

    Notes

    • Editing is a bit limited
    • Exports are large and would need to be mixed down
    • Chrome only
    • Beta for now, pricing unknown

    Pancakes and Space.

Pancakes = the 2D (normal) UI/UX work I do all day

Space = the 3D/VR work I tinker with

Apple Vision Pro = Pancakes IN Space
