A Podcast list for VR, AR, and Spatial Computing
I used to listen to quite a few podcasts related to VR, but many of them quietly dropped off over the years (looking at you, RevVR).
Last week on Threads I asked for a list of podcast recommendations related to XR tech. I’ve gotten a few suggestions so far, so I’ll list them below. I’ll update this article as I find new shows and as I check out the ones that folks send in.
Personally, I define a podcast as an audio show served on an RSS feed that can be played in any podcast app. †
Current rotation
These are the shows I currently listen to. If they are on this list, I recommend them.
- Voices of VR by Kent Bye. This is a no brainer for anyone interested in VR, AR, and Spatial Computing.
- Boz to the Future by Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth. Not entirely XR, but lots of great discussions around tech at Meta.
- Vhite Rabbit WebXR Podcast by the developers of HeyVR (formerly Construct Arcade). Lots of great discussion about what it takes to create immersive content for the web.
On my list to check out
- Building the Open Metaverse by Patrick Cozzi and Marc Petit
- No Proscenium
- Between Realities on YouTube †
- Ruff Talk VR Podcast
- Emmy’s Black Box: The Podcast by Emmy Schwab
- VR Download from UploadVR † I’ve caught this from time to time but have never managed to keep up with it.
- This Week in XR Podcast
† A lot of folks are making shows on YouTube these days. If video /visual is necessary to follow the discussion, then I probably won’t keep it in my rotation. If it’s just a video on the hosts making an audio show, then I’ll find the RSS feed in my podcast player.
