Exploring the PlayCanvas VR Starter Kit

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
These are my notes from a deep dive into the PlayCanvas VR Starter Kit. I spent some time going through this project template to learn how it works and to see if I can learn how to expand on it to build some VR features for my projects. TL; DR: Most of this post is…

Ten Days of PlayCanvas

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
This was supposed to be the “A week of PlayCanvas” post, but I kept putting it off. I’ve had a chance to familiarize myself with PlayCanvas and wanted to take a few minutes to capture my thoughts. When I decided to check out PlayCanvas I wanted to learn just enough about it to be able…

Checking out PlayCanvas

By Joseph
Posted in Technical
I’m setting aside some time this weekend to learn the basics about PlayCanvas. It’s one of the only tools available to WebXR developers that I haven’t used at all, so I’m going to change that. This is a working list of things I want to learn and try this weekend. I’ll update this list as…

Fire Flower

By Joseph
Posted in Personal
I saw this flower on a walk this week and was struck by the colors forming the appearance of fire. Using the Adobe Capture app, I generated some derivative outputs from this image. Colors #779B2D #BEDE92 #F3C643 #E49339 #C84A22 Patterns and Shapes I might have to make something with these colors, parhaps using them on…

This was a short test recording I made with Adobe Podcast (beta as of Sep 2023).

    Recording:

    Unedited transcript:

Joseph: This is just a test of the new Adobe Podcast app. It’s in beta and I’ve been on the waiting list for a couple of months and I got the email this weekend. So I’m talking into my MacBook with no microphone or anything, just using the the built in MacBook Pro microphone. And I’m sitting on my couch not terribly close to it and talking pretty quietly at my normal tone and not necessarily holding still or trying to be quiet. So. Yeah. That’s where it put this thing through its paces and see what it can do with mouth sounds and background sound or whatever. But yeah, I’m just going to talk for about, I don’t know, five more seconds and then I’ll stop and see what it sounds

    Notes

    • Editing is a bit limited
    • Exports are large and would need to be mixed down
    • Chrome only
    • Beta for now, pricing unknown

    Pancakes and Space.

Pancakes = the 2D (normal) UI/UX work I do all day

Space = the 3D/VR work I tinker with

Apple Vision Pro = Pancakes IN Space
