Notes on Land’s End
Few VR games have surpassed the simple stylized beauty of Land’s End. Low Poly geometry, noise textures, colorful materials, water, and great lighting all contribute to making these bits feel like a place.
I’ve played this on Go many times. It’s something to reach for when I want to clear my head or have something to do while listening to an audiobook.
Someday my Go will stop working and I’ll lose access to this game. I wanted to capture this game as best I could before that happened. This is another early VR game that I wish the developers would preserve. They could port it to Quest via App Lab or even release it on the web using the Unity WebXR Exporter.
This video is a full playthrough of the entire game.
Originally released on Gear VR in 2015 and updated for Oculus Go. Footage captured on Oculus Go in May of 2022.
