Canvatorium Recap 11
Twenty-five labs for Apple Vision Pro
It’s been nearly two months since I wrote a recap for my work in Canvatorium. In that time, I’ve worked on twenty-five labs for Apple Vision Pro using SwiftUI and RealityKit. I also created and launched an app called Project Graveyard.
The first twenty-one labs in the Canvatorium Visio series were developed using Xcode and the Simulator. Now that I have an Apple Vision Pro, I can test out these labs and see how things look in the headset.
Yesterday I worked on four new labs using SwftUI gestures to manipulate 3D content in a RealityView. I made these as a sort of “quick reference” for myself.
Now that I have a real device to work with, development has become much more interesting, but also a bit slower. I’m working in Xcode and running on the device via Wi-Fi. It works well but adds some time to each build compared to working in the simulator. I may eventually break down and the ridiculous developer strap.
I’m also excited to get back to the WebXR labs. Safari on Apple Vision Pro has basic WebXR support, but it has some issues. A new version of visionOS supposedly has several buck fixes and improvements to WebXR.
